Thirsty for some good Sci-Fi? Check out 'ARK'

So I have to come clean, I have a small bias about this webseries 'ARK' that I found on Hulu. I've actually know about it for a while since it stars one of my favorite actresses, Renee O'Connor, from one of my all time favorite shows, Xena Warrior Princess,but the last I read it was looking for a place to show the episodes. Imagine my surprise when I'm browsing Hulu today and I come across the entire series!

The series was meant to be shown as online webisodes but some how landed on Hulu thanks to SyFy's interest in it. It's apparently been up for a couple of months now and it is great! It has a Alien/Dead Space feel. For an indie production it is really well made. There are only 9 episode but hopefully with more interest there might be more made. Check out the first episode below and the following eps on Hulu.

Ever since the recent Battlestar Galactica series ended it's run on tv I haven't really been following many genre tv shows religiously (I still have to catch up several episodes of 'V' on my DVR). But one show that I have been anticipating is the upcoming series The Walking Dead on AMC. Based on the excellent graphic novel by Robert Kirkman and Fank Darabont (The Mist, The Green Mile) on board as Executive Producer and Director of the premiere episode this looks like it's going to be a show I can sink my teeth into! (Ahhh, see what I did there!) AMC just released some awesome test photos of the zombies and a behind the scenes video. Check them out below and look for The Walking Dead to shamble onto AMC this October.

Review: Clash of the Titans 3-D (2010)

So I was one of the last few people on the planet to catch the new Clash of the Titans film in the theaters before it left to make room for the oncoming Summer movie tidal wave. First off I'd like to bring to light a real cleaver trick my movie theater is employing to suck more money from my pocket as if they aren't doing that already. Since 'Clash' has been out for a little while they had it playing in one theater, nothing surprising here. I had heard and read that the 3-D in the film was not good so I was planning on seeing the regular version of the film and save a couple of bucks in the process. But to my dismay the theater (as well as other theaters in my area) were only showing the film in 3-D all day. So I was FORCED to pay $15 (as opposed to the usual adult price of $11) to see the lousy 3-D version. Mother. Fuckers.

Well after that delightful incident I sat down to watch the movie. Without going into the whole backstory we have some guy Perseus who is half-god but is adopted and raised by a mortal and his family. has said family taken away from him when the gods punish a band of human soldiers who claim to not worship the gods anymore. The gods want to teach mankind a lesson by threatening to release the Kraken upon the city of Argos if they do not offer the sacrifice of their princess and Perseus becomes the one who must try and save them.

To be honest, I didn't care for this remake. I was really looking forward to a fresh look at the greek mythological story but you know what? It didn't do anything for me. I didn't care much for Liam Nesson as Zeus, Fiennes was ok as Hades although it was like he was just doing Voldermort with a Ted Nugent hairdo. Sam Worthington did absolutely nothing for me. I understand he's mad about what happened to his family but I really didn't care. For all his declaration of stopping the gods as a man in the end he still had to use his godly abilities to foil Hades' plans so why the hell didn't he take advantage of his demi-god status earlier!!! In the end the god's still reigned on Mt. Olympus and man would still end up believing in them, what's the point?! And having Perseus falling in love with Io rather than Andromeda kinda doesn't make sense for his motivation for wanting to save the people of Argos so badly. In the original Perseus loved Andromeda so he was willing to do anything to save her, in the new one once he found out that he was a demi-god he really didn't need to help any of those people. His beef was with Hades, he could have technically gone on his own quest to go after Hades without the help of any of those people. He wasn't even from Argos! Oh and one more thing Calibus was WHACK!!!!!

As for the look and effects, the Kraken was cool looking but I thought the battle ended quickly, Medusa was pretty...why is this? And why the hell was Pegasus black (not that there's anything wrong with black horses...some of my closest horse friends are black) but...why? Give me Harry Hamlin and some stop motion creatures any day. Despite the dated look of the original 'Clash' and some slight cheese to the performances I felt that that film had more charm and more of a fantastical element to it than this 2010 redux. I mean it's Greek MYTHology, ham it up people! Oh yeah and the 3-D was garbage, but I knew that from reviews. It was never originally filmed with 3-D in mind and it's obvious.

Overall 'Clash' 2010 was just a 'meh' film. I was really excited to see this film but in the end I wasn't awed by it. The storyline was a little thin and the character motivations for the things they did during their adventures didn't make sense at times. I see they are setting up a couple of sequels and I hope that they improve upon this first film, but I doubt it. If there's one positive to take away from seeing 'Clash' is that it just makes me want to see a God of War movie even more.

Review: Spider Baby

The only thing I knew about Spider Baby prior to watching it was that Sid Haig was in it. Other than that I didn't have much interest in seeing this film. I knew the film had a fairly decent cult following among horror fanatics but for some reason I never made the effort to watch Spider Baby. Well the other day with nothing on tv and the Final Girl Film Club deadline coming up I said "Eh, what the hell!" so I fired up the PlayStation 3 and pulled up Spider Baby on the Netfilx Instant-Stream. When the title sequence started and that kooky song played over it (sung by Lon Chaney Jr.) I knew I was in for something special and by the end I regretted not see this film earlier.

The basic jist of the story: The last surviving members of the Merrye family, watched over by devoted caretaker Bruno (Lon Chaney Jr.), are about to have their inbreeding utopia disrupted but some distant relatives looking to claim the family estate. The more Bruno tries to hide the family's secrets the more exposed they become to their visitors inquisitiveness and the surviving Merrye "children's" bad habits. Suffice it to say the movie is pretty good with a surprising amount of humor in it. I'm not going to go into huge detail about the film, it's a definite recommend but I do want to put down some thoughts I had while watching the film:

-Of course we open with the usual stereotype of the goofy black character being the first one to get killed..daaamn.

-The narrator and uncle to the Merrye children, Peter (Quinn K. Redeker) is the only other character beside Bruno that is nice to the "children". His demeanor kinda reminded me of this guy:

-Even in one of his earliest films Sig Haig can be counted on to play some fucking weirdo character!

-So on top of being a scumbag lawyer (like what other kind of lawyer is there) Schlocker is not only an asshole but what the hell is up with the Hitler 'stache?!! It was made very clear that the viewer he was not to be liked from the get go!

-Maybe it's my urban upbringing and my overall sense of distrust of everybody but I don't care what kind of inheritance I'm entitled to I would never have insisted on spending the night in that house with those people they way cousin Emily did. Oh hell-tothe-NO!

-Speaking of Emily, bad enough that she insisted on spending the night in that creepy house and was completely disgusted by the purrrr-fect dinner she retires to the bedroom to...dance around in sexy lingerie?! Her character was more weirder than the Merrye clan...ironic no?

-Big props to Ralph (Sid Haig) for laying the pipe good on that uptight bitch Emily. One minute she was screaming running away from him the next she's moaning in ecstasy and seeking out Ralph for some more. She certainly was keeping the family tradition alive.

-Very nice nod to Lon Chaney's iconic role as The Wolfman during the dinner scene where he mentions that it was going to be a full moon that night. Very Classy.

Those are just some of my thoughts about this crazy little film. It really was a treat to watch and I may have to add it to my movie collection. A must see for horror fans! Now I have to go and find that opening song to put on my ipod. Thanks again to Final Girl Film Club for motivating me to check out this film.

Review: The House of the Devil

7/6/10: Just an addendum this review has been submitted to the Final Girl Film Club.

Synopsis: In the 1980s, college student Samantha Hughes takes a strange babysitting job that coincides with a full lunar eclipse. She slowly realizes her clients harbor a terrifying secret; they plan to use her in a satanic ritual.

Well I bet that synopsis sounds good doesn't? And how about that poster, looks pretty bad ass right? And that trailer, it's pretty suspenseful huh? Well let me start this off by saying that the best thing about this movie was the poster. The trailer is actually better than the entire film! One of the quotes in the trailer says "Creepy as hell!" when in actuality The House of the Devil is BORING AS HELL!!!!!

**Spoilers ahead**Suffice it to say that the lead, Samantha (Jocelin Donahue), needs money for a new place to live off campus and decides to take the offer to babysit from some guy. Her friend, Megan (Greta Gerwig), doesn't like it but decides to drive her to the client's house anyway (which is in the middle of nowhere, of course) and insists that she stay and keep Sam company (There I just saved you 40 minutes of the movie). Once there we are introduced to Mr. Ullman who is creepy, but that's not saying much because the actor Tom Noonan (Manhunter) is the epitome of creepy. He informs Sam that he kinda lied and actually doesn't have a child that needs babysitting but rather his elderly mother that needs to be looked at while him and his wife go out to look at the lunar eclipse. *PERSONAL RANT* Now if it were me (or any other sane person out there) I would be saying "Fuck you, your wife and your mother I'm OUT!" but I guess that wouldn't make much of a movie.*END RANT* He convinces Sam to stay by offering $300, she tells him she'll do it for $400, he agrees and she stays. Oh and then when he says that he can't pay her friend (despite paying Sam $400) she tells Megan that she has to go and that she can come back later to pick her up...WHAT?! I know...what an idiot, she just got $400 out of this guy but she couldn't keep her friend there with her. Anyway Mr. and Mrs.Creepy leave, her friend departs pissed off (understandably) and Sam is left alone in the house. And then pretty much nothing happens for about 30-40 minutes.

We just see Sam futzing around the house looking at stuff opening some doors, turning on the tv, turning off the tv, opening her school bag to take out her books, putting her books back in her bag, ordering pizza, putting on her walkman, going around the house AGAIN while dancing....yadda yadda yadda. Oh yeah in the middle of all this her friend pulls over down the road to light a cigarette and ***SPOILER*** and get's shot in the face. That part was pretty cool but that's about it. (Ok that was about 35 minutes of the movie) Let's see...she hears a noise...there's some dead people in a room with a pentagram on the floor but she doesn't see it...she gets her pizza delivered by the guy who shot her friend but she doesn't know that...she eats a bit but it tastes funny and throws it out...she hears another noise and goes to investigate but she passes out from the spiked pizza (another 10 minutes done)...oh look she's become a part of a satanist ritual...some old woman draws a bloody pentagram on Samantha's belly and makes her drink blood (this with the lunar eclipse taking place apparently gets her pregnant)...Sam unties herself...Tom Noonan, his wife and the fake delivery guy watch while Sam gets away...she runs into her friend's faceless dead body...Sam kills the wife and her son (fake delivery guy)...somewhere she stabs Tom Noonan..she gets a gun...Noonan chases her into the cemetery..he begs her to give birth to the devil...she shoots herself in the head to keep it from happening....but she actually survives. In the end we see Sam lying in a hospital bed with a nurse assuring her that her and her baby are going to be fine (last 10 minutes).

Condensing the movie down in writing may make it sound intriguing but trust me when seeing this film in the span of 95 minutes it is excruciatingly painful to watch. This film could have easily been presented in one hour, 1hr 15 min TOPS and it could have been a decent if not a routine satanist run amok movie. There is so much exposition in there that it is unnecessary, I mean I can appreciate a slow burn in a movie but this one crosses the line into drawn out boredom. The ONE thing the director does well is recreate the 80's environment that the film takes place in, but this alone does not help this film one bit. I did not feel any sense of dread nor was I scared at the parts that were supposed to be scary. The whole satanist thing was lame the second the room with the dead bodies and bloody pentagram showed up. And with all the build up to the final scene, the payoff was lacking in the end. I keep reading on the internet about comparisons to Rosemary's Baby from fans of THotD. But where Polanski's film properly builds REAL tension and dread and keeps the viewer wondering if something sinister is really happening to Rosemary, The House of the Devil fantastically fails at attempting to conjure up any emotion other than sheer apathy.

Viewing suggestion: rent, watch on tv/cable or avoid completely.

Retail Therapy for Geeks: Recent Blu Purchases

Amazon.com was having a really good sale on Blu-ray discs over the weekend so what's an unemployed geek gal to do but spend some money! At $10 a BD it was too good to pass up so I picked up 3 pretty awesome flicks.

Overlooked when it was originally released in theaters Dark City has become a cult hit in the years following. Although I own Dark City on DVD this Director's Cut on blu is totally worth the re-buy since it has been re-mastered in high-def. There are some extra commentaries and factoid stuff just in case you need to know EVERYTHING there is to know about the film. It's a trippy movie that stars Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly, and Kiefer Sutherland prior to him saving the world in 24 hours while pointing a gun and yelling at everybody. A worthwhile movie to own at regular price or at a discounted price (although getting it on the cheap is always great).

Before she became a high-falutin' Oscar winning director, Kathryn Bigelow directed the pretty kick-ass vamp flick Near Dark. Despite the unfortunate new cover art for this Blu-ray release, which is an obvious look-a-like to something from Twilight's marketing ads, the vampires in this film are far from sparkly! It's a nice look at the early film work of Bigelow, actor Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli in Heroes) and the bonus appearance of Aliens Bishop (Lance Henriksen), Hicks (Bill Paxton) and Vasquez (Jenette Goldstein) as vampires just pushes the kick-ass factor to 11 . A dark and gritty film with even darker humor Near Dark is a must have film for lovers of REAL vampires.

Look, much respect goes to the original 1958 The Fly with Vincent Price but there is no beating Jeff Goldblum as Brundlefly!

See what I mean?! All ickyness aside David Cronenberg's The Fly is a true horror movie in every sense of the word and one of the best to come out of the 80's. I remember seeing this as a young girl and being so grossed out but pleasantly amused (is that normal for a 9 year old?) and engaged by this science gone awry story. I'm looking forward to watching this and being grossed out once again but this time in high-def! This is my first time buying this movie on any disc format (I might have a VHS copy laying around somewhere) but I would have gladly purchased this again if I had already owned it on DVD.

I haven't read author Seth Grahame-Smith's previous litierary mash-up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies but it just might have to go on my wish list.

[UPDATE]: Just when I'm raving about this trailer for the book comes news that the damn book is going to be made into a movie! Not only that it's going to be produced by Tim Burton! I need to read this book asap!

Consolidating my internet bullshit

So I've decided to start this blog back up in an effort to consolidate all of my internet blogging/postings. Blogger has made some vast improvements to it's system and now that Google owns this and everything else on the web I figure I should just start trying to focus posting to one site. Since I already have YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, Gmail, and Google Reader I figure I can just use this blog to post anything and everything that I feel the need to talk about. Facebook was my main posting site (after I stopped using MySpace, LiveJournal, Friendster, and MiGente O_o) but that shit is starting to annoy me now. So it's back to The Hallucinogenic Toreador for me (I forgot how fucking kick-ass the name I made for this blog was).

So what am I going to post? Well I'll throw some personal ramblings on here once in a while (I'll try to keep them short), anything interesting I read on the web, I think I'll talk about movies and games a lot. Maybe I'll even put up reviews. I'll also probably put up any progress I make with my art and possible entrepreneurial endeavors. And I'm not above putting up videos of chimps sniffing their butts.

What a wondrous thing the internet is.

So on thursday I did something incredibly stupid but at the same time SOOOOOO worth it!

I bought myself a PlayStation Portable.

The good thing about it-I can play video games, music, veiw photos and video/movies on it. The bad thing about it-I spent $250 plus $30 for a video game on it when I really shouldn't have. But as my friend T told me I will only live once and you gotta treat yourself...and that IT'S THE MOST FUCKING COOLEST THING ON THE PLANET RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been wanting a PSP ever since they anounced it at E3 last year but I ended up doing the impulsive buyer thing now because of Star Wars. Ya' see what happened was while I was waitng on the line to see the midnight showing on Wed eve my two friends broke out their PSP's to show me the movie/video game trailers they had put on the system. I was like "shit this is cool"...Then this guy infront of us turned around to show off his PSP. See this guy ripped the Star Wars movies from his DVD's, coverted them and put them onto his PSP so he was standing there watching "The Empire Strikes Back" while waiting to see "Revenge of the Sith". So then the envy bug REALLY hit me and it didn't help that T and C were continuously telling me that I need to get one. See it was all the peer pressure!

So the next day I played hookie (becuase I came home at 4am after seeing SW) and took my mom to Target. I decided that I'd take a look to see if they had any PSP's, which I didn't think they would because they were no where to be found in NYC, and to my surprise they had two units left. Now had I not gotten paid that morning I would not have bought it, plus the fact that I'm behind on some bill payments I really should have not bought it...but alas the little tech demon on my shoulder kept whispering in my ear "Get it, Get it, GET IT NOW!!!!!!!!!". So I did.

Although I feel a little guilty for buying it, I realize that it was so worth it. See I found some programs that allow me to rip video from my DVD's and then converts it to fit my memory stick and play it on my PSP. So what did I do? Man there is nothing better than doing absolutley nothing on a sunday. The only reason that I am dressed is because I had to go to the grocery store and move the car into the garage...otherwise I would have still been in my pyjamas watching some Xena on DVD....much like I did last night. I had to go to a funeray mass for the son of one of my mom's friend's yesterday. He died suddenly last month...which kinda sucked because it just brought up all these emotions about Geena's death again. So in order to forget those sad feeling I did what any girl would do...I went shopping!

I went to Best Buy and bought the 6th and final (*tear*) season of Xena. I was happy and sad at the same time....what you think I was going to buy clothes or something? So I preceeded to go home and start my Xena marathon, passing on going to a birthday party up near Poughkeepsie. I wasn't in a very social mood and that shit was far away. I got in 9 hours of Xena goodness and it took away all the sad depressing thoughts that were running through my head. I can always count to Xena and X-Files for that.

So right now I'm just chillin on the 'puter NOT watching Xena because my grandmother is watching tv in my room...but it's ok because my grandfather hogs the tv in the living room eventhough he's in there sleeping not watching anything half the time.

I might make some digital art later but I'm still kinda tired, so I don't know if I'll do that.

Well that's it.....just another lazy sunday in the Bronx.

So yesterday I get an odd message in my work email from someone in my company asking about health benefits, I was going to respond to the guy telling him he sent it to the wrong person when he wites back to appologize for mis-delivering it. That's fine.

So today I get to work and open my inbox and see 30 e-mails form people all over the company saying that they keep geting e-mail from everyone and to stop doing it....meanwhile they are hitting the "Reply All" button. And so the vicious cycle ensues. So far for the last hour, I keep getting messages form people complainging that they are getting e-mails and telling people to stop it, but they are just adding to the mess. And these are probably people that have MBA's. It would be easy to just ignore the e-mails and just delete them but they must let everyone know how annoying it is that they keep getting e-mail. I am sitting here laughing my ass off at this...these grown adults acting like petulant children, whining that their inbox indicator keep going off. At least some people are enjoying it, Vinnie said that he's "really enjoying it!!!" But now it's annoying senior management, and Karen sent a message, replying to all, that if they keep it up and crash the system there are going to be REPRECUSSIONS!...it was in red and in caps so you know she means buisness.

Ah, corporate America...Gotta love it.

The guy taking on the express bus sucks....does anyone not have any fucking consideration anymore. I did not pay $4 for the express bus so I can listen to some asshole talk on his stupid little cell phone the whole way home. Due to his lack of consideration I know that he has a date this thursday....fucking bastard.

Christmas sucks. I am so tired of this fucking hallmark holiday. There is no meaning left in it anymore. We celebrate the birth of someone who's birthday did not even take place in december. How so? Well just last week was the feast of immacculate conception...just think about it. Either Mary gave birth two weeks after her conception or it took her a whole year to give birth. I learned in Health class either senario is impossible. It's just an empty holiday that his run by the mighty dollar.

Work sucks. I got laid off and re-hired within 2 weeks. Sounds good but I feel that I'll be doing work that I am not meant to do. I wish I knew what I was meant to do in this lifetime. I just don't know what I was put on this earth to do. I just feel that my existance has not been validated yet and I wish it were. and no I'm not going to kill myself or do something lame like that...I just feel like poop right now.

2004 sucks major donkey nuts! I'm giving this year two middle fingers and an arm gesture. I can only hope that 2005 is better...it has to get better. This year just really sucked. I can't wait for New Years Day....It will be a new year and I will get my vacation time back so I can go on that much needed vacation that I was supposed to take 3 months ago.

Oh, and the Red Sox Suck too....Go Yankees.

The Hallucinogenic ToreadorMan, I never realized how addicted I am to my computer. I had to dismantle it for a couple of days while my ceiling was being replaced in my apartment. As I was choking on the dust (and hopefully not asbestos) all I kept thinking was "I wonder what's going on the X-Files message boards?" I thought I was going to become catatonic. I finally got my fix today when I returned back to work. Ah, it felt good to have access to all the useless information I can find at the click of my mouse. How terrible is that? I got to move some of my stuff back into my room last night but I didn't put my computer back because I was so tired from cleaning up the ceiling dust...but rest assured I am hooking my baby when I get home...We needs to have our preciousssssssss!

I am so annoyed with everything right now, I feel like throwing my fucking office chair right through the window. It's like every little minor thing that I would usually just brush aside is all happening at the same time and it's pissing the hell out of me. What the fuck! First I can't find my scarf that matches my coat, then I get to work and I still can't get onto a website I need to do work on because of some fucking stupid computer shit that I don't even want to get into. then it's lunch time and guess what? I left my fucking money on my desk at home. Not that I was going to eat much for lunch because all I have is $4 to my name until I get paid on friday. Thank god I was smart enought to make breakfast this morning or else I would have been fucking starving all day. Oh but I think I have .45 cents in my pocket, maybe I can get a fucking carrot stick from the cafeteria!

Oh I hate to sound like this but my temper is so short today for some reason. I'm really trying my hardest not to look angry at my desk because I've already been asked if I was upset due to the look on my face. But I'll sit here and laugh and giggle and act like everything is just peachy it this fucking hell hole.

I should really update this daily.....I had a wierd dream a couple nights ago. I dreamt I was with Geena but it wan't really her, she was a human clone of the Geena that died. Everyone was happy just to have her back and they were telling her the things that she used to like and the things she used to do but I was the only one that was not as elated as they were. I was talking to her and asking her if she truly felt that red was her favorite color or was she just saying that is was because that was the original Geena's favorite color. She told me that is wasn't her favorite color, she told me that although she looked and sounded like Geena she had no memories or feelings for the same things that Geena had when she lived. Then I tried to tell the family not to force the "new" Geena to be exactly like the "old" Geena. She was a different person and had her own feelings and desires, but no one would listen to me. The "new" Geena continued to act like the original version of my cousin but she was secretly unhappy......What the hell is that shit about? Maybe I need to cut back on watching all the sci-fi and horror movies that was on over the Halloween weekend.

Oh yeah and ass Bush is going back into office, the Yankees lost and Boston won the world series...the signs of the apocalypse have revealed themselves to us.....Hey at least we have the Giants and the Jets....

An accident...left one woman dead.....

That was the line that made it real.

"An accident that police said involved a traffic light in Tamarac Saturday left one woman dead..."

That's what made me realize that it wasn't a dream.

"Geena Torres-Hodgins, 33, of Tamarac, was driving her 1995 Toyota southbound on Nob Hill Road when it collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban heading west on Commercial Boulevard, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office"

That is what made me realize that it was...it is true.

"Torres-Hodgins died Sunday at Broward General Medical Center."

That is the line that made me realize that I won't get a phone call from her ever again.

She is dead.

It will be even more of a reality for me when her parents bring her home this week. It will feel too real. I keep seeing images of her in my head...she is laughing...or sleeping on the couch while watching a movie...or playing handball against her livingroom wall. These are the happy images I see. But then when reality hits I see images of her getting hit by the truck...her lying there bleeding...then I see her hooked up to a ventilator, swollen, bruised, her head bandaged up covering the massave head trauma she received. I see her mother holding her, crying, sobbing in anguish. I see her mother's chiuauha, Maya, digging her little wet nose under Geena's hands trying to get her to pet her...but she isn't. She isn't going to pet you Maya...She isn't going to laugh...She isn't going to sleep during a movie...She isn't going to play handball against the living room wall... She isn't here anymore.

I miss her so much.

I keep struggling between the happy images and the tragic images...My mind melds them together into one streaming image. There are so breaks, no pauses, nothing separated into chapters...It's all one image. But I try to just focus on the happy images...it's hard but I have to. I don't want to always think of her lying limp, hooked up to machines...lifeless....cold...swollen...dead.

I try to remember her happy. I see her smile...beautiful...Radiant...full of life.

That how I must remember her...that how she lived...when she lived..That is how she would want to be remembered.

I love you Geena.

Just when things are have gotten better....something bad happens. Geena is lying in a coma right now in the middle of a hurricane down in florida. I feel numb once again....But I have to think positive....I have a headache but Geena has swelling of the brain...We can't do anything...her mother can't be with her because there are no flights to florida...My heart stops everytime the phone rings...I can't do anything but think positive...be positive...be positive...pray...cry...sob...be angry...fucking hurricane...be positive....
Everyone in my house is praying, using the rosary to talk to God. A bunch of beads...some plastic some glass.... on a chain...some metal...some thread. Used to talk to God. A prayer re-peated several times in succession, all to talk to God. I took out my rosary, the one from my first communion...but I didn't want to use the same prayer that you use when you use the rosary...I came up with my own prayer to talk to whoever will listen...And who ever will listen I want them to give a message to Geena...I want the operator to connect me...I want them to tell her these things that I wish I could tell her in person. Maybe she will hear them and know what I am feeling...I start at the cross....

The Big day

Here it is...the big day...Today my cousin Janelle will give the biggest gift one could give to another. She is donating her kidney to my mother. It's 5:30 am, I've only slept for an hour and I am nervous as hell.
I know that this is a proceedure that is done everyday without a problem but I can't help but be nerve racked.
Whatever angels, gods, spirits, or passed relatives are out there I just hope they watch over the both of them.

Well today I was called into the principals office and reprimanded...so to speak. Actually the manager I report to called me into his office to tell me that the supervisor was complaining about me to him. The supervisor hasn't been appreciating my work ethic, which lately has consisted of talking on the phone, laughing out loud while talking on the phone, coming in later than I should, and overall appearing to not be doing any work (which is not too far from the truth). Funny thing is, I've been doing this for a while now, only difference is that I am now sitting right next to the VP's office so I'm more exposed. I was warned to try not to be so obvious....my manger know that I do my work but I just have to be more careful. To which I apologized and said that I would do as he suggested.

Now usually when some thing like this happens to someone at work they leave the office shaking in their boots, biting their fingernails saying "Oh me, oh my! I better do what they say or I'll get into big trouble! (whimper, whimper)"....Funny thing is, I was barely phased by it.

That is NOT a good thing.

Lately I've been feeling like I am slowly deteriorating from the inside out. I have spent 5 years working in a non-creative environment and it is slowly killing my soul. I know it sounds dramatic but that is the best way I can describe it. I am an artist working in credit and collections...that is not an area that offers much creativity. The most creative I can get in my job is deciding what color I want to make the totals on an Excel spreadsheet. Every morning when I am walking to my building I feeling I am walking to my execution. The other day I took the day off to take my friend, Jen, to the airport. While we were wasting time until she had to go to her gate I turned to her and said "You know I am so much happier sitting here that I would be sitting at my desk at work.". She goes "Seriously?", I said "Yeah, seriously." She tells me "That is really bad.".....She's right, that is bad but it's the truth.

I hate feeling like this because I know this is not how I would usually behave. This is not me. I am not this person that literally DOES NOT CARE. I hate feeling like this but I can't help it. I hope that I can get in to a career in the very near future that is more suited to my personalities and talents. I hope I can have a job that I can even mildly enjoy. I can't keep working where I'm at....I'll either just get up and quit or let them fire me....I unfortunately would be happier either way, which again is not a good thing.

I need to be able to breath the water and not the air....I'm just not built that way.
